Citation metrics are widely used in the scientific world and, according to the authors of a study (DOI:10.17632/btchxktzyw.3), misused. Jeroen Baas (Elsevier B.V.), Kevin Boyack (SciTech Strategies) and John P.A. Ioannidis (Stanford University) have created a publicly available database of over 100,000 top scientists that provides information on, among others, citations, Hirsch index, and place on the author list. Separately, data are compiled showing the researchers' career-long data and their activity on a single year. In the list of August 2021, the list of top scientists (TOP 2%) includes four representatives of the discipline of materials science and engineering:
1. prof. Andrzej Błędzki
2. prof. Ewa Mijowska
3. prof. Beata Tryba
4. prof. Sławomir Kaczmarek
On the other hand, the list of authors whose works were most cited in 2020 included:
1. prof. Andrzej Błędzki
2. prof. Ewa Mijowska
3. Xin Wen, Ph.D.
4. Magdalena Zdanowicz, Ph.D.
Congratulations to the best scientists and authors of the best papers in 2020!
