The Minister of Science increased financing for 5 Polish public universities, including ZUT, that have been accepted for financing from the European Commission funds in year 2024 within a prestige initiative of the European Universities alliances.
Additional funds will be allocated as universities’ own contribution to finance the development of didactic and research capacity in Polish academic centres in the course of the cooperation within the alliances. Consequently, the funds should strengthen the position of Polish universities on the international arena. The total amount of the increased subsidy is over 5 mln PLN.
The European Universities are international alliances of higher education institutions. Among their basic assumptions there is a common, integrated, long-term strategy in the field of education and resulting from it cooperation on different levels of organization and in different fields. A very important advantage of the European Universities is creating optimal conditions for student, doctoral candidate and researcher mobility.
ZUT is officially a EUNICoast consortium member since July 2024. The alliance consists of twelve universities located on islands and coastal zones of Europe. The alliance members aim at being active in five main areas: developing identity, local knowledge and cultural heritage on islands and within coastal societies, as well as stimulating increased interest in port logistics and blue tourism. Apart from that, the aim of cooperation between institutions that have the sea in common will be increased mobility of students and academic staff, development of scientific research and competitiveness of European higher education taking into account social needs and a specific nature of the blue economy.
