EUNICoast – European University Initiative alliance

Logo of EUNICoast

Twelve universities, including the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, located in the islands and coastal zones of Europe, form the EUNICoast alliance. Anchored to the sea in spirit and practice, our European Alliance seeks to awaken an appreciation for the maritime world's significance. For us, the sea is not a physical boundary, but a conduit of shared experiences, economic prosperity, and ecological balance. By instilling a deep-rooted connection to the sea, we empower our students to engage meaningfully with both ports and islands, and the intricate interplay between them.

For more information about EUNICoast, see the alliance's mission statement (format:  pdf, rozmiar:  1.08 MB).

European Universities Initiative

European Universities are international partnerships of universities that aim to be the European universities of the future.

The basic premises of European Universities are:

  • a common integrated long-term strategy in the areas of education, research, innovation and cooperation with society and the economic environment,
  • a common virtual campus, enabling seamless movement of students, doctoral students and employees,
  • integrated mobility at all levels of study,
  • new collaborative and flexible curricula, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral.
  • Practical or work-based experiences during study, developing entrepreneurial attitudes and active citizenship,
  • a student community that reflects the diversity of the population, including students from underrepresented and disadvantaged groups.

More information about the European Universities Initiative can be found on the European Commission's website (education.ec.europa.eu/pl/education-levels/higher-education/european-universities-initiative).

We will keep the ZUT community informed about the course of implementation, steps taken, and updates through publications on the university's website and through the alliance website: www.eunicoast.eu.
