Fulbright Scholarship for Weronika Witkowska - Engineer in Szczecin, MSc in Washington 17.06.2024 13:36

Mentoring support for ZUT's most talented students works! Last year's graduate of ZUT's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, Weronika Witkowska, winner of the ZUT School of Eagles, has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright scholarship. In September she will start her Masters studies in Washington DC at Georgetown University (MSc in Environment and Sustainability Management). This is a great achievement as both the Fulbright and university programmes are extremely competitive. It is with great satisfaction that we quote the graduate on the support and opportunities provided to her by the ZUT School of Eagles, a proprietary mentoring programme now in its fifth year at our university:

- The high expectations and inspiring environment of the ZUT School of Eagles taught me not only how to conduct scientific research, but also how to be disciplined and determined to achieve my goals. Thanks to the constant contact with my mentors, Prof. Andrzej Jardzioch and the Head of the School, Prof. Piotr Sulikowski, I have already had the opportunity to conduct scientific research on the use of artificial intelligence tools in the production environment and their application in the fashion industry at the first-degree level. Thanks to the School of Eagles, I was able to develop my passions from the very beginning of my studies, which helped me to define my future professional and academic goals.

Furthermore, with the help of both professors, I wrote my first academic articles, which not only greatly improved my later dissertation writing, but also taught me how to conduct in-depth analysis and verification of valuable academic sources. At a remarkable pace, I developed the ability to think critically and to formulate arguments precisely and clearly. It has also given me the organisational and time management experience to successfully complete the various stages of a research paper. The mentoring provided by the School of Eagles has led me to consider studying for a master’s degree abroad.

Prof. Piotr Sulikowski, the Head of the School, mentored me throughout the Fulbright application process. Among other things, he helped me with documents, recommendations and how best to prepare for the interview. I gave it my all and I got it! This is a great achievement for me (the success rate in the Fulbright Commission's scholarship competition was less than 7%) and, above all, the realisation of a dream.  Already in August I will start my master’s studies in Washington, DC.

I believe that the experience, knowledge, and support provided by the ZUT School of Eagles laid the foundation for my success in applying for the Fulbright Graduate Student Award and opened the door to further academic development and an international career.

ZUT's School of Eagles is an opportunity to learn from the best and an excellent start to an academic career. Mentored by experienced scientists, the most talented students can develop their passions, pursue ambitious goals, and acquire practical skills. Active participation in new research projects leads to scientific publications, conference presentations and further projects. These achievements culminate in scholarships from the Minister for Science, research grants and scientific internships, and excellent preparation for training at the Doctoral School.
