First NCN Council session with participation of prof. Krzysztof Okarma 09.01.2025 10:00

On January, 8-9 2025 in the headquarters of the National Science Centre (NCN) in Krakow takes place the first this year session of the National Science Centre Council. One of the scientist appointed to the Council is prof. Krzysztof Okarma from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at ZUT.

As one of the eight representatives of scientific and technical studies prof. Okarma will be a NCN Council member for a four-year term (till December, 14 2028). Apart from his engagement in the Scientific and Technical Studies Committee (ST) our professor has been also appointed by the Chairman of the Council to the NCN Quality Assessment Committee.

NCN Council consist of 24 scientists representing different fields of science and different scientific centres. The Council members are appointed to a four-year term of office, however every two years half of the members are replaced.

To the tasks of the NCN Council belong, among all: defining disciplines or groups of disciplines – within their scopes research project competitions are announced and processed; defining areas of priority in basic research in accordance with the national development strategy and determining the amount of financial measures assigned for research projects within particular disciplines or groups of disciplines.

Prof. Krzysztof Okarma is currently the only NCN member from our region. ZUT representative in NCN is a professor in engineering and technical sciences in two scientific disciplines: automationelectronicelectrical engineering and space technologies and also information and communication technology. He specializes in image analysis methods and application of machine and computer vision.
