It takes two to TANGO… 25.07.2018 14:02

In 2015, Professor Barbara Grzmil from the Institute of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering of West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin, obtained funding from the National Center for Research and Development of the project "Non-toxic phosphate pigments for anticorrosive paints",  TANGO1 project which is organized by National Center for Research and Development in cooperation with National Science Centre.

In phase K of the project the technological concept of obtaining the best anti-corrosive properties phosphates in the simplified process design form was developed and the production costs of and sales of these pigments were estimated.

As part of the R & D phase of the project, Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne "Police" S.A. signed agreement of cooperation and financial participation in the costs of executing the R & D phase of the project implemented at the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin.

PROJEKT TMM Biuro Inżyniersko-Projektowe, Szczecin company has developed an executive design of the installation for obtaining phosphate pigments, located in GA ZCh "POLICE" S.A.

Grano S. C., Gdynia was selected in the procedure as the installation contractor.

The construction of the pilot installation for obtaining non-toxic phosphate pigments was completed at the end of March 2018.

The installation is located at Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A. in accordance with the indicated location. Below you can see photos of supply tanks, filter-press, dispensers and reactor.

The tests of producing selected phosphate pigments on the constructed installation in the amount of 20-30 kg from one charge were made. Application of the products from this installation have been undertaken by such companies as: Novol Sp. z o.o. and Chemical Alliance Polska.

The implementation of the TANGO project is a good example of cooperation between science and industry in the West Pomeranian region.
