On Friday, June 24, the West Pomeranian Nobel award was held at the Castle Opera in Szczecin - a prestigious award promoting the greatest achievements of scientists from West Pomerania.
In this year's edition, achievements for 2021 were distinguished in eight categories: basic sciences, medicine, agriculture, human sciences, economy, technical, art and marine sciences.
Our life generates an increasing demand for electrical devices. It is an issue related to the development of civilization and the improvement of the standard of living. We want, for example to charge the battery in the phone as fast as possible and make it last longer - said Karolina Wenelska.
Karolina Wenelska from the Faculty of Technology and Chemical Engineering received the West Pomeranian Nobel 2021 award for research on the use of new materials applicable in energy. Wenelska is currently working on the fuel of the future.
This year's West Pomeranian Nobel award winner in the field of agricultural sciences was Adam Lepczyński.
Diet is a very important factor in our but also animal body. We check how individual organic compounds can modify the functions of our cells, as well as entire organs, thus influencing metabolism – said Adam Lepczyński.
Adam Lepczyński, is a professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Animal Husbandry. He received the West Pomeranian Nobel Prize 2021 for innovative applications of proteomics methods in research on the physiological effects of animal dietary supplementation.
