Among the winners were also two outstanding researchers who were recognized for their achievements in the field of scientific activity. The award went to PhD, D.Sc. Danuta Kisielewska from the AGH University of Science and Technology - for scientific achievements in the field of particle and experimental high energy physics and Professor Ewa Kula-Świeżewska from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences - for scientific achievements in the field of biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry and molecular studies of isoprenoid compounds.

The Prime Minister’s Awards were also granted to ten postdoctoral dissertations. Among the winners were Scientists from Jagiellonian University, University of Warsaw, Institute of History of Sciences, Polish Academy of Sciences, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Military University of Technology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. and University of Zielona Góra.

The Prime Minister also rewarded 12 doctors for doctoral dissertations, including PhD., Eng. Adam Zieliński for his autogenic contraction of self-compacting concrete written under the supervision of Professor Maria Kaszyńska dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture WPUT. The author made an attempt to explain the problem in modern concrete technology - autogenous shrinkage of concrete, which may damage structural elements made of concrete.

For the requirements of his work Adam Zieliński constructed test benches, conducted extensive laboratory tests and analysis. Obtained results allow to estimate risks and adopt appropriate material and technological solutions.

PhD Zieliński's doctoral dissertation is a comprehensive study discussing global trends in concrete technology, analysing very significant problems and pointing to beneficial practical solutions - said Professor Maria Kaszyńska, dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture WPUT.

Winner of the Prime Minister’s Award he has been working in the Department of Reinforced Concrete Structures and Concrete Technology of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture WPUT since 2012. He is an author of scientific publications in Polish and foreign industry magazines and co-author of 6 patents and 3 patent applications. While writing the dissertation, he was a laureate of the Scientific Scholarship of the Mayor of Szczecin twice for the best PhD students in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 editions.

The Prime Minister’s Awards were established on the initiative of the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1994. They are awarded for scientific and artistic achievements, highly rated achievements which are the basis for conferring the degree of habilitated doctor or postdoctoral degree of art, distinguished doctoral dissertations and scientific and technical achievements. Winners in the competition are selected by the awards committee, chaired by Professor Tomasz Giaro from the University of Warsaw.
