The competition was attended by graduates of full-time and part-time studies of the first and second cycle studies program: Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Interior Design at the Visual Arts Department at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. 27 diploma theses were submitted to this year's competition ( 13 works from the Architecture and Urban Planning area, 14 works from the Interior Design ).
- This year's graduates thesis show a variety of perspectives and a new perspective of viewing our city - says Daniel Wacinkiewicz. - I hope they will bring more bold projects in their careers.
Award was granted to:
Katarzyna Ożóg for her master's thesis "Museum of Contemporary Art in Szczecin" promoted by prof. Ph.D., Eng. Arch. Adam M. Szymski at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin.
The winner was awarded PLN 4,000, and supervisor received an award of PLN 2,500.
According to the competition commission, the design of the Museum of Contemporary Art was modern and clearly referred to the aesthetics of modernism through minimalistic means of expression. The historic building layout of the Staromłyńska street frontage has become a direct inspiration for the building's form. The modern shape of the museum building preserves the old cadastral subdivisions and varied dimensions of the pre-war buildings. The logic and consistency of the project is complemented by functional solutions integrally inscribed in the structure of the building. The project in a mature way combines the history and tradition of the place with a modern architectural language fitting with the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Awards in the amount of PLN 1500 were granted to:
Anna Gruca and Paweł Skłodowski for their master's thesis: „Translokator Sztuki: Jednostka Stacjonarna i Jednostka Mobilna przy ul. Tadeusza Wendy na Łasztowni w Szczecinie” under the supervision of Ph.D., Eng., Arch. Piotr Fiuk at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin.
Michał Jaroszewicz and Mr. Wiktor Kuchniak for their master’s thesis: „Ośrodek transferu wiedzy Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego przy Al. Jana Pawła II w Szczecinie” under the supervision of Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng., Arch. Marek Wołoszyn, prof. ZUT at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin.
Nazarii Zaniuk for his master's thesis: „NANO – UL Centrum technologii przyszłości na terenie fabryki Wiskord w Szczecinie” under the supervision of Ph. D, Eng., Arch. Adam Zwoliński at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin.
Krzysztof Żywucki for his master's thesis: „Dom Marynarza – przebudowa, rozbudowa i adaptacja na funkcję mieszkalną” made under the supervision of Ph.D., D. Sc., Eng., Arch. Grzegorz Wojtkuna, prof. ZUT at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin.
The exhibition of competition entries takes place until March 27, 2019 in the lobby in front of the session room.
