Award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for prof. Magdalena Zdanowicz 21.02.2025 14:29

On Polish Science Day, Feb 19, 2025 Torun became a scientific capital of Poland. In Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki Polish Science Gala took place. The event gathered an eminent group of academic world representatives. It was not only an occasion to honor the outstanding scientists, but also a time of reflection on the role of science in shaping the future of Poland.

The culminating moment of the gala was presenting the Awards of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. They were honored in five categories: for overall achievements and for significant achievements in the field of scientific, didactic, implementation and organizational activity.

Altogether the Minister awarded 150 people from academic centres from all over Poland.

Among the prestigious company of 33 scientists who received the Award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education in the category for significant scientific achievements was prof. Magdalena Zdanowicz.

Prof. Magdalena Zdanowicz works as research and teaching assistant professor in the Center of Bioimmobilization and Innovative Packaging Materials in the Faculty of Food Sciences and Fisheries. She is a specialist in polymer processing and functionalization. By her innovative research on starch prof. Zdanowicz won recognition of "Forbes" business magazine and a place on the list “Women of the Year 2020”. In 2022 within her own project PolysFer she developed fully biodegradable materials containing fertilizing substances. Numerous publications in reputable scientific journals established the position of prof. Zdanowicz in four subsequent lists of the most frequently cited scientists ranking – World TOP 2% Scientists 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023).
